Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 2026-05-09

No account or personal profile is required to use the Service. Most wheel data stays in your browser unless you explicitly join a multiplayer room. SpinOfLuck is designed to be a privacy-friendly tool for classrooms, giveaways, and everyday decisions. These Terms explain how you can use it, what we store, and what we don't.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using SpinOfLuck (the “Service”), available at https://www.spinofluck.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of service and no-account approach

SpinOfLuck is a free, browser-based random name picker. You enter a list of names or items, and the Service spins a visual wheel to select one at random.

No signup or account is required. There is no login flow, no password, and no user database. Your wheels, entries, custom colors, settings, and spin history are saved exclusively in your browser's local storage and never leave your device unless you explicitly share a wheel link or join a multiplayer room. We don't have accounts because we don't need them.

3. License to use

SpinOfLuck grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for lawful purposes. You may not:

  • resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service;
  • attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract proprietary parts of the Service except where permitted by applicable law;
  • use the Service in a way that violates any law or infringes the rights of others;
  • use automated systems to overload, disrupt, or damage the Service.

4. User content

You are solely responsible for the names, entries, and other content you add to wheels. Because content is stored only in your browser, we cannot moderate it, but you agree not to use the Service to enter content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or that infringes the rights of others.

5. Children and classroom use

SpinOfLuck is designed to be safe for classroom and educational use. The Service does not knowingly collect personal information from children, and no account or sign-in is required to use it.

If you are a teacher, parent, or guardian using the Service with students, please follow these guidelines:

  • You are responsible for any content entered into wheels — including student names or identifiers.
  • We recommend using first names only, anonymized labels (e.g. “Group 1”, “Student 7”), or student numbers in place of full names.
  • Do not enter sensitive student data such as grades, addresses, medical information, IEP details, or behavioral notes.
  • Do not use multiplayer rooms for confidential student data. Multiplayer is intended for shared visible activities (e.g. on a projector), not as a record-keeping system.

If you believe a child under 13 has had personal information entered into a hosted multiplayer room, contact us at hello@spinofluck.com and we will remove the affected room promptly.

6. Multiplayer rooms

The Service offers an optional multiplayer feature where one user creates a “room” and shares a 6-character code with others. Joining a room is strictly opt-in — it requires either the code or an invite link. The Service does not broadcast room codes, list active rooms publicly, or attempt to connect users who haven't exchanged a link.

Multiplayer is not a private communication system. Rooms are intended for casual shared activity (classroom warm-ups, livestream giveaways, party games) where participants are present and the wheel is the focal point. Do not treat a room as private chat, as a secure channel for sharing personal data, or as a record of sensitive information. Treat any content entered into a multiplayer room as potentially visible to anyone who has — or guesses — the room code.

What gets uploaded. While a room is active, the following is written to Google Cloud Firestore so other members can see and interact with the same wheel:

  • wheel name, entries (the names you put on the wheel), per-name color overrides, and wheel-affecting settings (shape, spinner mode, palette, spin duration);
  • each member's anonymous browser ID and their chosen display name (max 32 characters), plus a periodic heartbeat timestamp so the room can show who is online;
  • each spin event the host triggers (target slice, animation seed, duration, server timestamp, and the resulting winner) so all members can render the same animation.

The host's anonymous browser ID is stored as the room's host identifier. Only the host's browser is permitted to trigger spins or edit the wheel; guests are read-only. Rooms are automatically deleted 24 hours after the host's last activity. Members can leave a room at any time, which removes their presence record from the database.

Visibility. Anyone with the 6-character room code can read the room's contents (entries, colors, settings, member display names, spin history of that session). Codes are randomly generated from over 800 million possibilities and are not enumerable, but they are not passwords — treat the code as a shareable invite. Do not use multiplayer rooms for sensitive content. If a name, message, or any entry would harm someone if read by anyone with the link, do not put it in a hosted wheel.

Abuse and integrity. Because the multiplayer feature does not require an account, the Service cannot cryptographically verify who is editing a room or claiming to be the host. Database security rules limit writes to the expected shape (e.g. valid display names, monotonic spin counters, immutable host ID and creation timestamp), but a sufficiently motivated user with a room code may still abuse the feature. Multiplayer rooms are intended for casual use among invited participants; do not use them for high-stakes draws, regulated lotteries, or any context requiring auditability or independent verification of the spin result.

Network and uptime. Multiplayer features depend on the user's network and on Google Cloud Firestore. The Service is provided “as available” and we cannot guarantee uninterrupted real-time synchronization. If a connection drops, members may briefly see stale state; the room re-syncs automatically when the connection recovers.

7. Privacy and analytics

What stays on your device. All wheels, entries, custom colors, settings, and spin history are saved exclusively in your browser's local storage. The Service does not transmit your entries, winners, or wheel configurations to any server. Clearing your browser data will permanently delete this information.

What we record. To understand how the Service is used and improve it, we record a minimal anonymous usage record per browser. This record contains only:

  • a random anonymous ID generated and stored in your browser (no name, email, IP, or other identifying information),
  • your country, derived from the request headers your browser already sends (e.g. “US”, “IN”), at country-level only — we do not collect city, region, GPS location, or precise IP address,
  • a counter of how many times the wheel has been spun from your browser, and a timestamp of the most recent visit.

We do not collect your entries, wheel names, custom colors, winners, browsing history, mouse movements, screen recordings, fingerprints, or any third-party advertising IDs. We do not sell this data, and we do not share it with advertisers. Data is stored on Google Cloud Firestore. You can clear your local browser data to reset your anonymous ID at any time.

Page-load performance metrics may also be collected via Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights, which are cookie-less and designed by Vercel to support GDPR compliance.

If you have questions about this data or want your anonymous record deleted, contact us at hello@spinofluck.com.

8. Advertising and third-party services

The Service may display advertising provided by third parties, including Google AdSense. These ads help us offer the Service free of charge. Ads are served and selected by the third-party provider; we do not choose which specific ads appear or control the bidding process.

Depending on your region and browser settings, you may see personalized ads (based on your interests and prior browsing) or contextual ads (based on the page content alone). You can adjust ad personalization settings directly with the ad provider — for Google ads, visit adssettings.google.com.

We do not share your wheel entries, names, winners, or any locally-stored content with advertisers. Ad providers may use their own cookies and identifiers as described in their respective policies.

9. AI-generated content

The Service may offer AI-assisted features, such as generating wheel entries from a short prompt or producing celebration messages. AI-generated content is produced by third-party language models and:

  • may occasionally be inaccurate, outdated, biased, or unexpected;
  • should be reviewed before use, especially for classroom or audience-facing activities;
  • may not be appropriate for all ages or contexts.

You remain responsible for how AI-generated content is reviewed, edited, or shared. Do not rely on AI output for decisions where accuracy or suitability is critical.

10. Accessibility

We aim to follow modern accessibility best practices, including keyboard navigation, semantic HTML, sufficient color contrast, and compatibility with screen readers and other assistive technologies. The Service is not formally WCAG-certified, and accessibility is an ongoing effort rather than a finished state.

If you encounter an accessibility issue or have a suggestion for improvement, please contact us at hello@spinofluck.com. We treat accessibility feedback as a priority.

11. Randomness disclaimer

The wheel uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) where available. While this is suitable for casual selection, classroom activities, giveaways, and entertainment, the Service is not certified for use in regulated lotteries, gambling, legally binding draws, or any context that requires audited cryptographic randomness or independent verification.

12. No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or that any defects will be corrected.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SpinOfLuck and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount paid by you to use the Service during the preceding 12 months, which in most cases is $0 because the Service is free.

14. Third-party links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or resources. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site, and inclusion of a link does not constitute endorsement.

15. Modifications

We may modify these Terms at any time by updating this page. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page indicates the effective date of the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

16. Termination

We may, at our sole discretion, suspend or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice. You may stop using the Service at any time by closing the page and clearing your browser data.

17. Governing law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.

18. Contact and abuse reporting

For questions about these Terms, support requests, privacy enquiries, or accessibility feedback, contact us at hello@spinofluck.com.

Abuse reports. To report misuse of multiplayer rooms, harmful or illegal content, impersonation, or any other abuse of the Service, email hello@spinofluck.com with “Abuse” in the subject line. Include the affected room code (if known), a brief description, and the date/time of the incident. We aim to review credible abuse reports within 72 hours and may delete affected rooms or restrict features as appropriate.
