Two kinds of saving, and why both exist

SpinOfLuck is local-first. The moment you type an entry, the wheel is stored in your browser, so on the same device nothing is ever lost between visits and no account is involved. That is the default, and it stays the default for everyone who never wants to sign up.

The second kind of saving is the account backup. It exists for one reason: a browser cannot follow you to another machine. Pressing Save to account copies the wheel to private storage tied to your login, and Open from account brings it back on any device. It is a backup and a bridge, not a replacement for the local copy.

Why winner history is part of the save

A wheel is more than its list. For a teacher, the useful state is who has already been called on this week; for a giveaway host, it is who has already taken a prize. Saving the entries without that history would hand you a wheel that had forgotten the thing you most needed it to remember.

So the history travels with the wheel, capped at the most recent 200 wins, and it merges rather than overwrites when a wheel is restored onto a device that has its own record. The Remove winner after spin setting and the results panel both read from this history, so a restored wheel behaves the same as the one you left.

Keeping many wheels organised

Once saving is easy, wheels accumulate. The dashboard groups saved wheels into folders you name, such as Period 3 or Friday Giveaways, and the Move button files a wheel with one click. Saved entry lists live in the same folders, so a class roster and the wheels built from it sit together.

If you would rather not think about saving at all, save the wheel once and treat the dashboard as the place it lives. Rename, move and delete happen there, and Use opens any wheel onto the device you are on.
